Contech Electronics is pleased to announce the completion of a merger with Vancouver-based Phero Tech International. Contech designs and distributes environmentally-friendly garden and pet innovations. Phero Tech develops and markets high-technology, non-toxic pest management and pheromone-based products for home and garden, forestry, landscape, agriculture, and commercial applications.

Contech CEO, Mark Grambart, will serve as president and CEO for the newly-integrated entity. Grambart has served as the CEO for Contech since November 2004 and has headed Phero Tech since December 2007. Allen Spigelman will lead sales and marketing and Bill Jones will run operations. The company headquarters—including marketing, sales, engineering and administration--will remain in Victoria, BC. Operations and science--including distribution, shipping and production--will reside at the former Phero Tech headquarters in Vancouver, BC.

Under common management since December, the companies realized several successes including placing home and garden insect traps in Wal-Mart stores throughout the United States, reaching an exclusive worldwide distribution agreement with animal reproduction industry leader, Minitube, for PheroBoar and PheroMate pig pheromone products, and closing a sizable contract with the US Forest Service for Verbenone mountain pine beetle repellent. Contech products, including the ScareCrow motion-activated animal deterrent and the ScatMat pet training mat, are available through major retailers including PetSmart, PETCO, Canadian Tire and Amazon.com.
