Set Up

To set up the ScatMat

1. On the power pack, remove the battery cover (press down on the arrow and slide forward), and install a new 9-volt alkaline battery. Replace the cover.
2. Snap the power pack onto the mat, and ensure it is attached securely.
3. Lay the ScatMat down with the power pack on top.

You are now ready to test your ScatMat.

To test the ScatMat

1. Slide the switch on the Power Pack from OFF to LOW.
   The red Action Indicator light blinks for four seconds and then turns off.
2. Touch the ScatMat with the side of your hand (rather than your sensitive fingertips), to test its operation.
   Once the Scat Mat senses your touch, its Action Indicator lights up and sends static pulses to the ScatMat for three seconds; you will feel them if you leave your hand touching across two wires. (These are visible upon close inspection about 3 cm (1.25 inches) apart.)

You can now place the ScatMat where your pet exhibits undesirable behavior (tables, chairs, counters etc), or use the ScatMat to block your pet's access to an area (either in a doorway or on the floor in front of an object). For more on this, refer to the ScatMat instruction manual.
