Set Up
To set up the WaterDog
Locate the WaterDog in an area where water spillage is acceptable. Some mulch, artificial grass, or gravel will ensure a clean, mud-free zone. Attach the WaterDog to the faucet or hose and adjust the height so the sensors will be at the same height as the dog's body.
The line of sight of the sensors should be parallel to the ground; if the
sensors point downwards, the ground may activate the WaterDog, if they point
upwards, rain may interfere with the sensors.
For small dogs, it may be necessary to point the unit slightly upwards to avoid interference with the ground. If the dog prefers to drink out of one side of his mouth, the nozzle on the front of the WaterDog can be rotated to the left or right to allow the sensors a better view of the dog's head while he is drinking.
If your pet is inconsistent in its approach to the WaterDog, it may be necessary
to place obstacles on the ground to force him to always approach and drink from
a known location.
